The Accounting Associate will provide finance support to the Director of Finance. The Accounting Associate will be responsible for maintaining day-to-day accounts payable and receivables processes, reconciling daily revenue, developing expense schedules, and overseeing credit card activity. The incumbent will also be responsible for providing billing support for registrants, communicating discrepancies, and supporting the annual audit process.

Responsibilities:

Perform daily reconciliation of cash receipts from the credit card processing entities against the AMS batch reports, while researching for discrepancies as required

Respond to vendor, member inquiries, and official bank notices to research and resolve payment discrepancies (e.g. refunds, credits)

Process refunds for declined RYS tracks from the Credentialing department, member grievances, and create journal entries

Process billing including vendors’ invoices, individual reimbursements, and other accounts payables and assign approvers  

Invoice and process receivables from partners and financial contributions while keeping records and sending payment reminders

Perform daily tracking of credit card and PayPal payables in preparation for monthly reconciliation

Assist in developing closing schedules for assigned accounts and create journal entries

Develop schedules of weekly transfers between entities 

Assist with expense reports and monthly reconciliation of credit card expenses

Keep records of employee time allocation between YA and the Foundation entities

Provide support for the annual Audit process

Open and sort all incoming mail and distribute to appropriate departments accordingly

Provide support for all Yoga Alliance staff members in special projects

Qualifications:

2+ years’ experience in a finance setting

Strong data entry skills with high level of accuracy

Ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize work to meet deadlines and strong attention to detail and problem solving skills

Accurate data processing

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and database software, etc. 

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interaction with co-workers, registrants, and members regarding financial transactions

Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information
