Yoga Alliance (YA) is a voluntary, member-based association of more than 100,000 yoga schools and yoga teachers that advances the development and livelihood of yoga professionals and advocates for the high-quality, safe, accessible, and equitable teaching and practice of yoga everywhere. 

We are experiencing a moment of exciting growth and transformation and are currently seeking a Credentialing Specialist to join our team.




The Credentialing Specialist is responsible for reviewing, assessing, and approving Registered Yoga School (RYS) and/or Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) applications in order for applicants to receive Yoga Alliance credentials. This includes evaluating RYS and RYT applications against Yoga Alliance standards to ensure that they meet said standards. The Credentialing Specialist must be comfortable using technology platforms such as Microsoft Office, various ticketing systems, Association Management Systems and/or Membership Relationship Systems, and CRM systems as well as maneuvering various databases. 




  • Efficiently assess yoga school and/or yoga teacher applications for adherence to the standards required to meet Yoga Alliance credential eligibility 
  • Provide high quality, personable, friendly, and professional service in response to member needs and concerns
  • Exhibit excellent verbal and written communications skills in order to develop, draft, and share responses and messaging that align with Yoga Alliance’s culture, brand, and Writing Style Guide
  • Communicate complex concepts in a clear, diplomatic, and tactful manner
  • Remain positive, flexible, composed, and professional while working with Yoga Alliance members in a fast-paced environment
  • Consult with the Accountability Department regarding grievance and compliance issues with applicants
  • Support overarching organizational priorities as well as department-specific projects 
  • Take initiative to complete tasks and determine solutions to solve problems
  • Support Membership Leads in on-boarding new Credentialing staff




  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field preferred
  • 5+ years of yoga teaching experience, ideally including experience within workshops and/or yoga teacher training programs required
  • Superior interpersonal skills
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • A strong understanding of standard-setting and credentialing processes
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Solid computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to effectively manage time in order to consistently meet individual and departmental goals
  • Previous experience in a customer service environment a plus
