Yoga Alliance (YA) is a global, independent member organization that advances the development and livelihood of yoga professionals and advocates for safety and accessibility in yoga. A related public charity, the Yoga Alliance Foundation (YAF), is an emerging field leader in yoga-based social impact dedicated to increasing access to yoga for populations that have traditionally been under-served, underrepresented, and marginalized in/by it. We envision a world in which our collective wellbeing and human consciousness is elevated through equitable access to high-quality teaching and practice of yoga.


Together, these two organizations support yoga teachers to more fully grow into their role as leaders in their communities. YA supports yoga teachers’ growth as professionals. YAF develops vehicles for direct social impact, such as programs that enable those professional teachers to serve within communities that have typically been excluded from yoga.


YA and YAF (YA/F) were founded to promote unity in yoga – so that all lineages, traditions, and yoga organizations may thrive, and all students may benefit from the gifts of yoga in the way that suits their needs best. We do this work so that the gifts of yoga can be offered safely and effectively to all.




Yoga Alliance and Yoga Alliance Foundation (YA/F) are evolving, the complexity of strategic initiatives is increasing, and we are seeking two Directors of Strategic Projects to own and drive this work. Reporting to the Chief of Staff, the successful candidates will be motivated, adaptable, and entrepreneurial leaders who will help bring our strategy to life and drive our most critical cross-functional efforts, using effective processes and be informed by an ethic of service.


These Directors of Strategic Projects are enablers for increased internal efficiency, clarity, and impact. The selected candidates will focus on strategic project scoping and development, management and execution, identifying and solving roadblocks; building and managing cross-functional and cross-hierarchical teams; and supporting the leadership team in implementing our strategy.


The ideal candidates are dynamic leaders who can build and execute thoughtful and ambitious strategies while ensuring operational excellence. They will have exceptional interpersonal and people management skills, with the ability to build, manage, and motivate high-performing, cohesive teams, across and up/down the organizational structure. The Directors of Strategic Projects will be results-oriented, with high standards of excellence. They will be clear, consistent, and empathetic communicators who excel at relationship building, who are constantly innovating and have entrepreneurial instincts, who quickly absorbs and integrates new information, who are not afraid to ask clarifying questions, and who have a contagious drive for excellence, accountability and problem-solving. To be successful, these Directors of Strategic Projects will need to establish credibility throughout the organization as effective developers of solutions to business challenges, navigate the interests of all parties, and communicate clearly and often.


  • Execute and monitor the progress of strategic projects against the organization’s strategic goals and related objectives. 
  • Create and drive work plans that prioritize and result in cross-functional alignment.
  • Identify and take on ad hoc strategic projects - everything from developing new ways to serve our community to executing cross-functional initiatives and closing the gaps in internal operations. 
  • Drafts work plans for implementation of long-range projects and proposals. 
  • Monitors project progress, drafting and distributing periodic progress reports for leadership and stakeholders. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 



  • Proven ability to track, prioritize, and drive multiple concurrent projects to success. Excellent communicator in written and verbal form; ability to work well with leaders, and able to lead and influence across multiple levels of hierarchy and multiple functions of an organization. 
  • Entrepreneurial, with a high tolerance for ambiguity and complexity, and efficient with limited resources. 
  • Highest level of integrity and management of confidential information. 
  • Critical thinker with proven analytical skills. 
  • Track record of using data and metrics to communicate a business case with ease.
  • Prior experience project managing teams of peers and managing up is required, with excellent interpersonal skills. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing yoga and social impact through their own yoga working experiences or volunteer activities. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to integrity and excellence in their work, and experience leading others to new levels of effectiveness and programmatic impact.
