Yoga Alliance (YA) is a global, independent member organization that advances the development and livelihood of yoga professionals and advocates for safety and accessibility in yoga. A related public charity, the Yoga Alliance Foundation (YAF), is an emerging field leader in yoga-based social impact dedicated to increasing access to yoga for populations that have traditionally been under-served, underrepresented, and marginalized in/by it. We envision a world in which our collective wellbeing and human consciousness is elevated through equitable access to high-quality teaching and practice of yoga.


Together, these two organizations support yoga teachers to more fully grow into their role as leaders in their communities. YA supports yoga teachers’ growth as professionals. YAF develops vehicles for direct social impact, such as programs that enable those professional teachers to serve within communities that have typically been excluded from yoga.


YA and YAF (YA/F) were founded to promote unity in yoga – so that all lineages, traditions, and yoga organizations may thrive, and all students may benefit from the gifts of yoga in the way that suits their needs best. We do this work so that the gifts of yoga can be offered safely and effectively to all.


Working with key leaders on the Marketing & Communications team, you will support YA/F in growing its brand while amplifying Yoga Alliance’s unique position in expanding yoga’s reach in communities across the globe, while supporting and bolstering the growing profession of yoga as a thought leader, resource, and aggregator in the broader yoga community.


You will manage YA/F’s social media and website producer, freelance copywriters and content creators while identifying and refining any necessary systems and processes to operate as a high-functioning department. You’ll report directly to the Director of Marketing and Communications.


As the Content Manager, you’ll drive overall messaging, copy, and content on owned channels, and externally for marketing campaigns and high visibility projects.


You will also work closely with any external agency partners to support the organization’s work including, but not limited to Forum One, Soze, and other consultants.


Core Responsibilities:

  • Support’s YA/F missions through inspirational, aspirational narratives and storytelling to create fresh, compelling, and engaging content with a deep understanding of yoga and the yoga community
  • In collaboration with the Vice President of Strategic Communications, be a brand advocate and develop a clear brand, voice, tone, and personality
  • Develop brand copywriting guidelines and standards and support implementation across the organization 
  • Ability to balance multiple internal stakeholders and projects, with tight deadlines and often a high volume of work
  • Work cross-functionally across departments to provide copywriting support, guidance, and resources to ensure brand consistency
  • Work collaboratively with Director of Marketing and Innovation Strategy to identify opportunities to create tailored content and enhance copywriting standards based on data, member conversion and growth goals
  • Must be an agile copywriter and storyteller, with expertise in both short-form and long-form content
  • Must be able to craft late-breaking, responsive, channel-specific communications that react/respond to cultural moments with a lens of cultural competency and sensitivity
  • Work closely with the Vice of Strategic Communications to create organizational and executive-level communications
  • Develop a team of best-in-class freelance copywriters and content contributors
  • Ability to receive and implement feedback from multiple stakeholders and leaders
  • Support and uphold Yoga Alliance’s mission, vision, and values



  • Bachelor’s degree in related field of study, such as Marketing, Communications, or Journalism
  • Minimum of 5 years of prior management experience leading creative or copywriting team
  • Subject matter knowledge on and interest in the field of yoga and/or yoga teaching
  • Proven skill and experience in developing and executing organization-wide strategies with a variety of online and offline tactics including: branding and messaging to different target audiences; developing and maintaining websites; producing all aspects of digital and print production
  • High-level project management skills required with experience with tools such as Achieveit, Wrike, Teams, Salesforce, SharePoint, etc.
  • Proven knowledge of website analytic tools like Google Analytics, HotJar, etc.
  • Exceptional copywriting skills with keen detail to grammar and punctuation
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to work independently
  • Enthusiasm for working collaboratively with all levels of employees
